His is a translational physician scientist with expertise and scholarly interests in Paediatric Clinical Pharmacology, especially in clinical trials, therapeutics in special patient populations, diagnostic applications through studies on basic disease mechanisms.
His research publications have focused on the pathogenesis of severe childhood malaria, and clinical pharmacology of antimalarial drugs in the area(s) of pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modelling for optimized drug dosing in disease management. He has a keen interest in clinical research ethics, especially ethics of clinical research in vulnerable populations. In this regard he serves on several institutional ethics review boards.
Roberta Lamptey has over a decade of experience and expertise in Family Medicine and Diabetes. She is a physician-researcherand clinical epidemiologist based at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra Ghana. She understands the burden of and is intrigued by the complex nature of NCDs in the West-African Region.

Roberta is also an Honorary Lecturer in diabetes at University of Leicester and adjunct lecturer with the Department of Community Health, University of Ghana Medical School. As part of these formal education programs, and an international mentorship programme, she influences clinical practice of healthcare professionals from across the globe.
Dr Lamptey is the diabetes expert for the Ghana Health Service NCD control program. Locally, she has authored several National guidelines (on management of NCDs) for Ghana.
She has a track record in diabetes and self-management education. Her publications are widely cited.
